101 Caterpillars: Portraits from the Tropical Rainforests of Costa Rica
December 15th 2011 21:00
I could not believe this when I saw this book HERE. Browsing at the books in the bird section at Kinokuniya, I saw the above eye-catching title. I pulled it out and turned the pages in horror. Yep. One hundred photos of caterpillars, blown up to gigantium size just to freak out the caterpillar phobics such as myself, my sister and my best friend Andrea. And yet, like coming across a car wreck, I could not help but gaze at all the photos before flicking back to the photo of what appeared to be about two dozen caterpillars. I am shuddering just as I recall the image in my head.
And yet, Fred likes them. He likes to touch them, let them crawl onto his fingers. He even refers to them as ‘dogerpillars’ which is spot on as the Cantonese name for caterpillars is literally dog-haired grubs.
