A Lovely Evening with Butterscotch and Gingersnap
November 15th 2009 21:00
It had been a month since I had seen my beloved boys and I missed them dearly. Imagine my delight when the phone rang and it was Brett, asking me if I wanted to pop over. Even though I was tired, I could not turn down the chance to be with my feline babies.
Now that they are almost three years old, they are not as active as they used to be when they were kittens. Most of the time now, they were content to sleep or sit on Brett’s lap. Gingersnap lay on top of Brett’s chesterfield lounge while Butterscotch climbed into his lap.
“Hello, husband,” I said to Butterscotch as I stroked his head. I wonder what Brett thinks of me calling his cat my husband. He has never said anything.
I later rubbed noses with Butterscotch. Butterscotch just sat there purring away. His breath smelt fishy, but not as strong as Gingersnap’s.
When Brett and I were sitting on the lounge, Gingersnap wanted to get to the other side of us. He stepped over Brett and then leapt over me. He then did the same thing but in reverse when he wanted to go back.
Just before I was about to leave, Gingersnap went missing. I looked everywhere (or so I thought) but still couldn’t find him. I then raised the alarm. Brett came into the kitchen, looked up and found him. My baby was sitting right on top of the pantry.
