A Typical new day at the Office

Now that we have been moved to another floor, my cat loving colleague and I have finally settled in and that means, adopted a new routine.
Every time his software package freezes he goes on the icanhascheezburger cat web site. This can happen several times a day. Sometimes I will whisper, “Get back to work!” Or I will show him a picture of Butterscotch and, pretending to be the cat, say, “Stop looking at my relatives!” My colleague will say his software is frozen.
Yesterday, just to rile him up, I took out the cat photo and said, “Butterscotch has asked me to monitor how often you go on the net. He will tell our manager if your usage is excessive.”
My colleague dead panned, “Tell Butterscotch to tell our manager to fix my software so it stops freezing so I can do more work.” Touché. He’s got me there.
Today, my colleague saw me reading a book at lunch time. We take lunch at different times; he likes to go early while I prefer to take a late one.
While I was in the middle of an interesting part, he hissed in my ear, “Get back to work!” I looked at him and he said, “I couldn’t help but say that.”
It’s wonderful when you get on really well with someone who sits next to you at work. It doesn’t happen often but when it does, it’s a real joy to come to work.
