Who ever knew a discussion about a David Attenborough documentary on elephants could lead to so much awkwardness?
A couple of years ago, I was working away one morning when I heard someone say, “Did anyone watch the animal documentary last night?”
“I did,” I said.
“It was good. Wasn’t it? What did you think of the elephant’s…” There was a pause before the person continued, “fifth leg?”
I was wondering what to say when someone behind me said, “Was it soft or hard?”
“Hard,” I replied.
“I shouldn’t have asked,” said the same person.
