Andrea Wants to Give Misty to me
June 24th 2009 21:00
Over the years I have noticed Andrea and her husband have, from time to time, asked me to take their tuxedo cat off their hands. At first I thought they were joking as both like to crack jokes non-stop. Then a few days ago Andrea again said I can take Misty except this time she said it in a serious voice.
“Okay, I don’t understand,” I said to her. “Why do you and Luke keep telling me to take Misty?” After all, Andrea and Luke owned their own home and Andrea has had several cats for pets so there was no reason for Misty to go.
“It’s because the kids are allergic to her so they won’t play with her. So I don’t think we give her the attention she needs,” said Andrea.
Okay, she’s got me there. But my landlord doesn’t allow cats so it’s not like I could take Misty either. What a sad, sad situation. Poor Misty has to be kept outside due to Andrea’s children’s allergies. A very good reason for anyone contemplating starting a family not to get a cat until after all their children have been born.

This weekend I am visiting friends with two cats, one originally mine, who still remembers me and tries to follow me home, and two dogs who could eat me alive with attention. So I'll have a good day, but if my circumstamces would only change it would be pooch and pussy, top priority.

I'd rather not do that. I know people who have secret companion animals and the stress they feel whenever they have an inspection doesn't seem worth it. And if I ever have to move in a hurry, I don't want to jeopardise my chances of getting another flat which would happen if I had a pet. It's not fair to the animal either. Unless I can provide them with a forever home, I'd rather go without.
