Another Boring Saturday
October 26th 2011 21:00
Recently I woke up on Saturday morning with nothing to do. I have not had this problem for ten years (when Borders first opened in Sydney). I ended up going to the University of Technology, Sydney’s open day just so I could go on the forensic lab tour. I ended up spending half the day there, asking academics and students about what jobs one could get with a forensic science degree. They made it sound so interesting that I felt like enrolling straight away.
I then spent the afternoon browsing at the nearby Dymocks store. Yep, as one person wrote on the Borders Australia Facebook page, Dymocks doesn’t have the same vibe as Borders.
I had gone there to get a particular cat book but they had sold out of it. And again, in the first time in years, I bought nothing which can’t be a bad thing now that I’ve become one of those boring suburban people who constantly bang on about how they can’t afford this and that due to the astronomical size of their mortgage.
On the other hand, I did locate some bird books but to my utter disappointment they only devoted one lousy page to my beloved Birds of Paradise. I was like, come on! The BOPs are considered some of those most beautiful avians in the whole world so why couldn’t they have given them more space?
