Anti-Social cats

“Cats are anti-social,” complained my sister one day.
“No, they’re not,” I retorted. “They can be friendly. Just look at my ex-neighbour’s cats.”
“That’s what I mean. They don’t want to be around people until they have gotten to know them.”
She got me there. I thought quickly. “Okay, there are Brett’s cats. They are very friendly. The moment they meet someone new, they want to sniff and paw them.”
“Why are cats anti-social?” asked my sister. “Is it because they weren’t socialised when they were kittens?”
“Yes.” For someone who knows almost nothing about cats and kittens, I was amazed by my sister’s spot-on observation. If only she could meet Butterscotch and Gingersnap but she and Brett don’t get on and besides, Brett is still not talking to me. Or me to him, for that matter.
