Bad Cat
August 31st 2009 21:02
It was that time of the year again: my birthday. Despite my wishes that my friends make donations to the RSPCA and Cat Protection Society instead of buying presents, I ended up with new additions to my growing library.
Surprisingly, none of them were about cats. In a way, I couldn’t blame my friends. I have so many cat books that chances are high that they would end up buying me something I already had.
Then came my colleagues. One of them bought me a copy of Bad Cat. She must have been psychic: this was one cat book I didn’t have. She then told me she was going to get me a book about Dewey the cat.
“Lucky you didn’t,” I said. “I’ve already got that one.”
Bad Cat was cheerful as most good humour books are. But there were two photos of cats with missing ears. One of them was even missing an eye. It made me wonder if they had been abused, although the one missing the eye and ears was a white cat, so it may have lost its ears due to skin cancer.
