Borders Tribute

My friends find my replica Borders store hilarious.
“Is there a café as well?” asked Tom.
“Actually, it’s right next to the kitchen,” said Karina.
“Maybe you could invite people to shop there and then have a coffee,” suggested Tom.
We all laughed.
“Come to think of it, I could have bought a Starbucks or a Gloria Jeans Café sign,” I said.
“You could have bought a Borders uniform,” one of them suggested.
“They didn’t wear uniforms,” I explained. “But they did have lanyards. I wish I had one of those.”
“I love a good lanyard,” said Louise.
“I wanted to buy one of their shopping baskets but they weren’t for sale. I wish I had bought more of their furniture and fixtures but I had a budget to stick to,” I said with a sigh, feeling sad now that Borders is gone – not just in Australia – but worldwide. Shopping for books has never been the same since.
