Brett Lets His Cats Outside Again

I couldn’t believe it. After the stress my friend Brett went through when Butterscotch went missing you would think he would be more careful, especially when he was lucky enough to get Butterscotch back.
As soon as Brett found Butterscotch he swore he would never let his cats out again. That’s what he told me anyway. Then a few weeks later Brett said he had started letting them out again, with a fifteen minute curfew. He would let them go into his backyard and bang on the plates to entice the cats back inside. Now Brett is saying he lets them out for a whole six to seven hours a day!
So far, Butterscotch and Gingersnap have been coming back but why even chance it? Whatever it was that led to Butterscotch going missing could easily happen again and then what?
If it was me and I had lost my beloved pet and managed to get him back, I would never, ever leave him out of the house again. I know Brett feels differently but I’ve grown attached to his furry friends and can’t help worrying about them.
Not only that, unlike Brett, I don’t trust people. What if there’s a cat hater on the loose and they come across these two babies and decides to hurt them? What if they get catnapped? What if they get into fights with other cats and end up injured? What if they stray too far away from home and forget how to get back? The possibilities are endless.
Fingers crossed. Let’s just hope Butterscotch and Gingersnap don’t go missing again.
