Brett’s Lack of Privacy
June 28th 2009 21:00
Lately my friend Brett has been complaining about his lack of privacy. The reason? Well, two actually called Butterscotch and Gingersnap. His two little Tonks insist on watching him take a shower. Brett doesn’t like this and often shoos them away so he can shower in private.
The image of two Tonkinese cats sitting outside the shower cubicle is too cute for words. Brett was not impressed at my lack of understanding of the situation. But he’s got to understand that I am not used to such friendly cats. Most of the cats I encountered as a child and later, as an adult, were typical scaredy cats. Perhaps I haven’t gotten over the novelty of having two cats follow me around.
But if there is any consolation for Brett it’s the fact that the same Tonks like to watch me go to the toilet. Again, I find this cute, especially when Gingersnap rubs his face against my leg while I am going about my business. How could I not fall in love with such loving creatures? And if the price to pay for such love and affection and companionship is the loss of a little bit of privacy, it’s a price I’ll gladly to pay.
After all, it’s not the same as going to the toilet or showering in front of a human. Unlike a human, the cats don’t appear to be horrified, disgusted or titillated by what they are seeing. They are not judgemental in the way a human would be.
