Butterscotch and Gingersnap Aren’t Brothers

It’s official. My favourite boys are not related after all. I got the details out of Brett: Double checking his cat adoption papers, it turns out Butterscotch is two weeks older than Gingersnap. So much for my theory that Butterscotch was born first before his mum got pregnant again and delivered Gingersnap. That would only work if there was a two month age difference between the two. Now I want to know why Brett had given me the impression that they were brothers. Maybe it’s because they are so close and similar in appearance and are from the same breed. I had always thought their previous owner had bought them from the same breeder and litter. Since that is not the case, did she get two kittens from two different Tonkinese breeders? Or did she get them from one breeder who had more than one queen who had just delivered? I don’t even know if Brett knows the answers to these questions, or anyone else for that matter. Whenever I’ve asked him about their pre-Cat Protection Society origins all he tells me is that they were once owned by a woman who could not overcome her allergy to cats so she finally had to give them up.
I’m going to have to pester Brett for more answers as I’m really intrigued about my babies’ origins. It’s so frustrating not knowing. If only they could talk, then I would get it straight from the horse’s mouth.
