Butterscotch and Gingersnap go Missing Again
May 31st 2009 21:00
I was horrified when I heard this story. Brett, who lives in Darlinghurst, told me he had planned to keep his felines locked inside his house during the Mardi Gras celebration. Like any concerned pet owner, he didn’t want his cats to be outside on a night when there would be many noisy and drunk people about.
Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan.
On Mardi Gras night, Brett decided to have a friend stay over. This is the same friend who left the door open about a year ago, causing Butterscotch to run away and go missing for several days.
The friend, who is not partial to cats, left the back door open again while Brett was asleep. By the time Brett realised what had happened, the door had been left opened overnight and the cats had gone missing.
Unlike the previous time, though, Brett had no problems locating his babies. There they were, standing outside the front of his house, waiting to be let in.
I curse the friend for letting this happen. The trouble is he is a smoker and Brett isn’t, so he makes him go outside for a smoke. And because the friend doesn’t like cats, he tries to avoid Butterscotch and Gingersnap wherever possible to the point where he literally backs away whenever they approach him. I don’t think he would be inclined to grab the cats like I do the moment they try to go out the back door.
At least my boys are safe and sound again. It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve last seen them and I can’t wait to be with them again.
