Butterscotch and Gingersnap Have B.B.
December 3rd 2009 21:00
My poor babies. Like some humans, they are now suffering from that dreadfully embarrassing condition that my friends call B.B., otherwise known as bad breath. Brett told me he had heard wet food is good for cats so he started feeding Butterscotch and Gingersnap seafood flavoured cat food. A couple of days later, Brett’s nephew was playing with them when he noticed they had bad breath. Brett took a sniff and noticed both cats had brown stuff on their teeth. He decided to ask his vet about this. The vet said Brett could bring them in for him/her to clean their teeth and it would cost a few hundred dollars. The alternative was Brett could brush their teeth himself with some special chicken flavoured cat toothpaste. Being strapped for cash, Brett chose the second option.
To my surprise, both cats co-operated with Brett. I had expected the feisty Butterscotch to put up a fight but he didn’t. Brett has managed to get most of the brown residue off their teeth but he is going to take my beloved boys to the vet soon to have the rest of it removed. In the meantime, he has put them back on a dry cat food diet.
