Butterscotch’s Band

Like many animal lovers, I like to fantasise about my favourite felines. My latest one involves a feline band. Butterscotch is the drummer and lead singer while Gingersnap is on the keyboards. Another two felines play the bass and guitar.
After seeing a home movie of Brett’s nephew getting Butterscotch to play air drums, it’s not hard to imagine him banging away. There he is, sitting on the seat with one paw on the kick drum pedal and his front paws holding the drum sticks. Gingersnap would be standing behind the keyboards nearby, his little paws touching each key. The image is so vivid it makes me giggle.
Speaking of which, this reminds me of a time I went to Bondi to see my favourite live band. The patrons were standing around the pub, waiting patiently for the band to come on. An hour went by and there was still no action. I know from seeing their previous performances that they need time to set up their instruments and to warm up but still, they never took this long to get ready. I asked the guitarist what was going on. He told me the drummer had gone AWOL.
“But he was just here,” I said, mystified.
“He was but he forgot to bring his drum stool so he had to go back home and get it.”
I burst out laughing but then stopped myself when I realised it wasn’t so funny for the guitarist or the rest of the band. When I told their other drummer what happened (the band had two drummers and would alternate between them), though, he also thought it was hilarious.
