Can Cats Use a Human Toilet?

I thought my ex-neighbour was joking when she told me this but she swears it is true: you can train a cat to use a human toilet.
But just look at this (be warned – there is a graphic video on this link):

Ok, so my neighbour is right after all. Then that begs the question: why don’t her cats use the toilet? Surely it would be cleaner and better for the environment. Just think of the money she would save on kitty litter. Ok, ok, I know she uses old newspapers for kitty litter but still…it still takes time for her to get newspapers, tear the pages up into long strips and then mix them around in the tray so that they form a nice springy nest for Higgins and Miggins to do their business. And then she has to dispose of it and clean their litter trays.
The only downside I can think of is the sight of cat poo in the toilet. Hmmm, having to check for cat poo wouldn’t be fun, especially if you have a lot of guests. Not that this is much of an issue for my neighbour as she likes to keep to herself but for someone like my friend Brett, who likes to entertain several times a week, this could cramp his style. Miaow.
