Debt Collector

Dear Brett, if you are reading this, I have plans for you.
Because I feel so bad about Brett owing Anastasia $1200, I’m going to try to get some money out of him so she gets paid. Even if it’s just a couple of dollars.
“That’s not your problem,” she had said after she had revealed to me what Brett had done.
“It’s got nothing to do with you,” said Karina.
“She shouldn’t have even told you about Brett,” said my sister. But I can understand why she did. From the sounds of it, she doesn’t know anyone else in Brett’s world and all of a sudden she gets a phone call out of the blue from one of his friends. And not just any old friend but a close friend; I have known Brett for twenty one years. So here’s her chance to ask me to pass a message onto him requesting he pay her.
Why should I care? One) I used to do internal fraud investigation for a living so I know how easily people are conned. Two) I have a vested interest in this; if I can help Anastasia out maybe she would be more forthcoming in giving me updates on Butterscotch and Gingersnap. Ok, so I’m not the white knight you thought I was. But who is?
“People are driven by carrots, not sticks,” says my psychologist friend. “You can use a stick in order to get someone to do something but they’re not going to do it willingly.” Exactly.
