Being agnostic by nature, I was sceptical when I came across this book:

I must not be the only person; when I mentioned the title to someone at work, she said, “I hope so.”
Still, I spent so much time flicking through this book at my local book store that I decided to buy it. After all, if I didn’t end up liking it, I could always return it.
Despite my doubts, author and psychic Sylvia Browne does present a convincing case that animals do go to heaven and look out for us and let us know that they are okay once they have crossed to the other side. The first quarter of the book was hard going as it covered the history of pet ownership so if you are going to buy this book I suggest you either skip this section or be patient as it will be worth it as the rest of the book has dozens of testimonies her readers have sent her of their encounters with their deceased pets or animal ESP. They range from the simple, such as the dog that refused to cross the road just before a car came careening down the road, almost hitting its owner to the miraculous e.g. the rabbit that made a loud racket to alert his owners that one of them was about to go into a coma.
The other interesting section was the part on what heaven is like for animals. Browne says animals and humans are young and no living beings need to eat so prey and predators happily co-exist. Browne says heaven is a place where the lamb can truly lie down with the lion. Whether or not heaven does exist, I felt a lot more positive after reading her book and it will go into my library to be re-read another time.
