Dodgy Duck Stationery

Don’t you just love chuck outs? You go through your junk that you haven’t looked at for months and it’s amazing the crap you’ll find.
This morning I was going through my DVD collection to find some old movies my sister had left at my place when I stumbled across some stationery which had ducks on it. I bought this stationery set about 15 years ago in Chinatown. It’s ever so cute but the words on the envelopes (see pic) are definitely dodgy. I wouldn’t even give this to my boyfriend!
I’m sure the people who designed the envelopes had no idea how raunchy they are. I mean, come on! I bought this from one of those kiddie stationery shops in Chinatown, the same kind of shops that stock Hello Kitty products.
Which leads me to the next question: What’s so fascinating about Hello Kitty? It’s very popular in Chinatown. As a kid (and by kid, I mean, when I was about 9 or 10), yes, I did go through a Hello Kitty phase which was quickly replaced by the Strawberry Shortcake and smelly eraser phases but sometimes I see adults with Hello Kitty stuff. Hello? Shouldn’t they have outgrown them by now? I even know a guy who plays in a band who uses a Hello Kitty guitar strap. It looks so incongruous; this guy normally wears sporty clothes when he goes on stage so they really clash with the lollypop pink Hello Kitty guitar strap. This guy must be in his late thirties.
My sister did have a huge Hello Kitty cushion. It was - you guessed it - in the shape of a Hello Kitty. Since she suffers from arthritis, she found the size of the cushion was just right in helping her back. We used to call the cushion the Sh*tty Kitty.
