Dogism

I’m sure any dog owner who has tried to take their dog out to a public place can relate to this: dogism AKA discrimination against dogs (or should that be dog owners?)
One of my neighbours has a small silky terrier. She has resorted to hiding her dog in a bag when she meets friends in restaurants, pubs and the like for this very reason.
Walking home together one afternoon after bumping into each other at the park, my neighbour started telling me about the many times she has been asked to leave restaurants and pubs because of her dog. One time, she was escorted out of a bar by three security guards just because they took exception to her dog. When she stuck up for herself, the guards said she was difficult. My neighbour said contrary to his opinion, she simply wanted to know why having her dog there justified her eviction from the bar.
I find this really mean. And petty. It would be understandable if she had brought a large vicious dog with her but how much trouble can a silky terrier on a leash cause?
Perhaps they are concerned the dog might pee and poo everywhere? Maybe they thought the dog would become a nuisance but I find that hard to believe, given how tiny she is. What if someone tried eating out with a cat instead of a dog? Would they also be treated the same way?
No wonder some of my friends say they prefer animals to people.
