Etiquette

Tell me, what’s the etiquette in this situation: Brett, as you would know, likes to let his cats out of the house. I don’t. So whenever I am at his place I close the doors before the cats have a chance to escape. I know, I know, I know…it’s Brett’s house so he has every right to decide what is and isn’t allowed in his house but doesn’t the safety of my beloved Butterscotch and Gingersnap override this? And I have many arguments to support my case: the cats could go missing, get run over, be catnapped and then tortured by cat haters and, last but not least, they could be attacking the local wildlife. Brett’s argument for letting them out of the house is that they enjoy the great outdoors.

Luckily for me, Brett hasn’t said anything about me trying to keep the cats shut up inside the house but the last time I closed the door, it did occur to me that he might think I was rude for not respecting his wishes.
