Friendship

Now that I have a new feline friend, I really look forward to my afternoon walks. It is so nice to feel Pepe’s face as she rubs against me. I used to wonder why Fred and my ex-neighbour would stop whenever they saw a cat on the street; now I know why.

So far I have befriended the Grouchy Tuxedo Cat, Figaro, Pepe and the old tom cat who used to hang around the stairs. But there is one cat that eludes me: the Tortie.

I saw her this morning. I came close to her, close enough to almost touch her and she ran off and hid behind the hand rail near the stairs. I miaowed at her and she ignored me. Scaredy cat, I thought. Why don’t you want to be friends with me?

I wonder who owns her. Does she live around here? If so, why have I only seen her twice? I hope she’s not a stray. That said, she might be able to live off the GTC’s food, since the GTC doesn’t seem to be around much these days. It’s as if Pepe has taken over from the GTC; I never saw Pepe before but now I seem to run into her almost every day. I also notice many people like to stop and say hello to her. Some people call her Pepe while others call her Peppy. Which one is her real name?
