Gingersnap Bit Me
March 9th 2009 21:00
I am not happy. During my latest visit to my friend Brett’s house, I was, as usual, greeted by my husband, Butterscotch, and my brother-in-law, Gingersnap. The two Tonks surrounded me and sniffed me before sitting beside me. I reached out to stroke one of them only to get bitten by Gingersnap! Shocked, I could only pull my arm away. Of the two, Gingersnap was the sweeter one, the pacifist. Not like his feisty brother, who once got lost and ended up fighting with another cat. Butterscotch was usually the biter, not his gentle brother.
Stunned, I gasped, “Gingersnap bit me!”
Brett smiled and said nothing. When I later told a workmate what had happened, she joked, “Gingersnap is getting jealous.” But I digress.
I spent the rest of my visit watching, photographing and playing with the cats. They seem to do something new every time I see them. Tonight’s new trick was performed by Gingersnap: He went inside Brett’s bedroom and looked up at Brett’s cupboards. One of them was open so Gingersnap jumped inside and hid behind the cupboard door, sitting on Brett’s clothes.
Meanwhile, Butterscotch was trying to find a gap between the curtains so he could stick his head out and look outside. Brett doesn’t like him doing this as he doesn’t want passers-by to look inside his bedroom. So Brett had stretched his curtains out as far as they could go. Because Butterscotch could no longer see a gap, he gave up on trying to look outside.
