Hidden Treasures

It was the last day of Borders’ operation before they shut down. I was shopping for some fixtures for my new pad when I heard a miaow beside me. I turned around and spotted a dark brown Persian cat in a lady’s handbag. She quickly turned so the cat was facing the wall.
I gasped in pleasure just as I noticed the look of horror on the lady’s face.
“I’m sorry,” I said. “I didn’t mean to draw attention to you.”
“That’s okay,” she said. “I’m not allowed to have him in here.”
“Can I have a look?”
She quickly turned so I could get a quick glimpse of the Persian. He looked at me with his amber coloured eyes. I was amazed he didn’t mind travelling in a tote bag.
“I’m sorry,” I apologised again. “I’m only drawing attention to you.” I quickly walked off so she could browse in peace but this feline mania of mine is quickly getting out of hand. Once upon a time I would never have bothered a complete stranger and here I was pestering a lady who clearly wanted to be left alone. And if Butterscotch knew I was eyeing other cats….
