How can you Forget to Feed Your Cats?

Catching up with Brett last night, I naturally asked how Butterscotch and Gingersnap were going. He said my boys were getting chunky as his neighbours kept feeding them.
All of a sudden, Brett stopped talking before telling me he had forgotten to feed them.
“How can you forget to feed your cats?” I gently chided him.
“I’ve been so busy. I fed them this morning but not tonight.”
“What about their dry food?”
“I did leave some for them but the bag was almost empty so I have to get some more.”
“Where do you buy it from then?”
“Woollies.”
“Well, there’s a Woollies just up the road so let’s go and get some,” I suggested.
“Later. I’ll do it on the way home.”
I groaned in frustration. One of Brett’s annoying habits is to leave buying stuff like toilet paper and cat food until the last minute, something I recently discovered when I had to use his toilet one night and discovered there was no toilet paper. We spent several minutes hunting for tissues. Thank God I didn’t have to do a number two.
Still, the thought of my boys starving while I was hanging out with Brett disturbed me. I was about to suggest we walk to his place and get some cat food along the way when he said he had ham and chicken in the fridge.
“I’ll give them that,” he said. I must have looked worried as he then said, “Don’t worry. I definitely have food in the fridge so they will definitely be fed tonight.”
Still, I wasn’t satisfied. Seeing that Brett was too lazy to go to the supermarket, I offered to do it for him. He gave me the money and told me which wet food to buy. Whilst I was there, I also stocked up on some dry food (“My treat,” I said). I hope my boys know how much I love them.
