How cute is this? Millie the seal robot spends her time visiting patients with dementia HERE. The results speak for themselves: One patient started speaking again after he commenced seal – or should that be robot? – therapy with her.
The newspaper article says the robot was modelled on seals as they are less likely to scare people. Hmmm…I never thought of that but how right! That said, I remember seeing a clip of a girl wearing a seal hat at a zoo. She was watching a polar bear swim when it propelled itself towards her, smashing its face in the glass. The girl ended up crying.
“For God’s sake, she’s protected by the glass,” said my sister, who has doesn’t suffer fools gladly. “There’s no need to cry like that. As if the polar bear is really going to hurt her.”
