If Animals Ruled the Corporate World…

Several months ago, one of my friends was fed up with her job. It wasn’t what she expected; she found the work frustrating and wanted to leave.

Being the animal lovers we both were, it wasn’t long for us to imagine companies where the CEO or vice president were animals.

I happened to have a copy of Dog Fancy magazine with me. Halfway through her moaning and groaning, she started flicking through the magazine while I watched. She stopped at a photo of a Bichon Frise.

“Oh, so cute…” she said.

“That’s the vice president of U.S. operations,” I joked. I then turned the pages back to the cover where there was a photo of a Shar Pei.

“That’s the CEO,” I said before changing the subject. “Imagine if companies were run by animals. One of the job criteria would be “must be able to work with animals”. Just say you got an interview. Butterscotch’s PA would take you into the interview room. She would sit beside him and he would say, ‘Miaow, miaow, miaow, Microsoft, miaow, miaow, miaow’. The PA would then say, “How much experience have you had with Microsoft?’ All the way through, she would translate Cat into English.”

My friend started laughing as I continued. “And when it is time for Butterscotch to shake your hand, he would put his paw on your hand.”

“Oh, the paw…so cute….”

“ Butterscotch would sit at the keyboard and type. His PA would act as his translator. Every day, he would go around checking if everyone was okay and if someone was stressed, he would put his paw on their arm and stroke it.”

If only…
