If I Can’t Keep Shopping at Borders, Then the Least I Can do is buy Things That Remind me of Them

July 7th 2011 21:00

If I was a millionaire – scratch that, billionaire – I would buy Borders and try to keep it afloat. But since wishes aren’t horses, I have to enjoy my last Borders experiences while I can. Which means buying things that bring back memories of all the pleasure I got from shopping there. Hence the duck infuser and key ring I recently snapped up. The key ring quacks like mad and reminds me of my beloved quackers.

I’m even tempted to buy one of the bookcases. They are so heavy they will probably need four men to lift them. Obviously designed for commercial use, these must be industrial strength, designed to carry the load of hundreds of heavy books. They could easily accommodate my library of five hundred books.

Exactly! During the last fortnight, I was at the Bondi Junction store every second day, buying bits of pieces of their fixtures and buying more books.
