Is my Marriage on the Rocks?

I saw my husband Butterscotch today. I stroked him and expected lots of feline love. After a couple of strokes, Butterscotch reached out and lightly grazed my arm. What is this? I haven’t seen him for a few weeks and now he behaves like this?
“Grounds for a divorce?” asked my colleague when I told him.
“Maybe. Spousal abuse. Husbands should not hit their wives,” I said.
Now that I think of it, maybe he was grumpy from the fleas. I didn’t see any fleas on his body but Brett said he still hadn’t taken them to the vet and I did notice Butterscotch and Gingersnap were scratching themselves a lot today. Maybe that was why my husband was so grumpy. Okay, I forgive you darling.
“Do cats scratch themselves when they have fleas?” I asked my colleague.
“Yes. You can tell pretty quickly. You just separate their fur.”
“Brett said they do have fleas, but not many.”
“There’s not a lot of real estate down there.”
“What?”
“There’s not a lot of skin down there so you might need to separate their fur a couple of times and you should see some fleas.”
“I think he scratched me because he was upset about his fleas.”
“So he thought you were a flea. I’d make the same mistake myself.”
