Lunchtime Sightings of the GTC
June 2nd 2010 21:00
As part of my new weight loss regime, I exercise during lunch time. So does one of my colleagues. While I like to power walk, he runs.
One afternoon, he asked me if I ever used the steps near Potts Point.
“I do,” I said. “Why?”
“There’s a black and white cat that hangs around there. I see her there when I do my running,” he explained.
“That’s Blanche. Don’t go hear her. She bites.” Blanche is one of the Grouchy Tuxedo’s names. She is also known as Felicia.
“There’s also a black cat.”
“That might be Figaro,” I said, although I have never seen Figaro on the steps. Still, I have spotted him on the footpath at the top of the steps so there is a strong possibility that the cat my colleague was referring to was him.
The next day, by chance, my sister and I decided to walk to Potts Point from the city. We noticed the GTC at her usual spot. Immediately, the GTC came up to me and rubbed her body against my legs.
I made the introductions.
“This is Blanche,” I said to my sister. “She sometimes bites if you stroke her too much but today she’s in a good mood.”
“Hello Blanche,” said my sister. The GTC ignored her and sat down beside me. I gave her a few strokes before heading off. The last thing I wanted was to be bitten in front of my sister.
