My Colleague’s Neighbour’s Whiney Cat

Ah, problems with the neighbours again! While I am putting up with the loud doof-doof music from someone who has just moved into my neighbourhood, a colleague of mine is putting up with a noisy cat.

He says one of his neighbours owns the cat. The problem is the neighbour works all day and doesn’t spend much time with it. She also lets it out every day so the cat goes around the building, miaowing outside every unit until someone opens up the door and feeds it. My colleague says the cat has two injured spots on its back so it’s obviously in need of veterinary attention. He is reluctant to continue feeding the cat in case it starts making a habit of miaowing outside his door all the time. I can’t blame him for feeling this way, although I’d gladly trade places with him. Give me a screaming cat over loud music any day!

My colleague is thinking of speaking to his neighbour about her cat. I said she’s lucky no one has reported her to the RSPCA.

When I was in the building I used to live in, I used to hear what I thought was a newborn baby crying every night. It was loud and seemed to be coming from outside. It wasn’t until I told my best friend Andrea – who used to have several cats that delivered babies of their own – that I found out it was actually the mating cry of a female cat. I felt so naïve when Andrea told me this. How was I supposed to know this?

Gosh, it never occured to me that cats could make noise like that.

Cats only howl like that when they are in pain, and a female in season or a male without a female experience a sort of pain. Sounds like this is an undesexed kitty with an owner that doesnt care over 3000 kittens are put down everyday. It just drives me mad. Either that, or it has a serious health problem. Either way owners like that dont deserve pets.

I agree. My colleague is still looking after it. At least someone cares, though it shouldn't be left to him.
