Bored after working late one night, my colleague and I started cracking jokes. As usual, I started looking at pictures of Butterscotch. (I would also look at ones of Gingersnap except he hates being photographed. Point a camera at him and he will take advantage of the opportunity to turn his face away.) I told my colleague I wished I could marry Butterscotch.
“We would have a church wedding and you know how the bride’s friends and family sit on one side and the groom’s on the other?” I asked.
“Yes,” said my colleague.
“Well, on my side will be humans and on the other side will be lots of cats.”
“And I’d come along and bring my cat,” she said.
I could picture it right now: me in white silk, Butterscotch in a smart tuxedo or nothing (cats don’t need clothes, after all). Butterscotch will be standing at the altar, patiently waiting with his brother Gingersnap beside him. Gingersnap will also be the best man.
The bridal party walks down the aisle, with me at the end. As I enter the church, I see dozens of humans on one side and cats of all shapes and sizes on the other side.
After we exchange vows, Butterscotch pushes a ring onto my finger with his paw. We then head off to the reception where again, humans will be seated together on one side, and cats on the other. Of course, there’s nothing to stop both species from mingling if they want to. The reason why the humans and cats are seated in separate sections is so that the cats can indulge in quality cat cuisine and the humans, human cuisine. Unfortunately, the human cuisine includes chocolate, which is poisonous for cats.
Butterscotch and I take our first dance together. I waltz around while he moves by standing on his hind legs. Hours later, exhausted, we head for the honeymoon suite where we fall asleep together on the bed.
The next day, we head off to the Maldives for a fantastic honeymoon….
