My Kitty Friend
Normally two cats hang around the stairs near my place so I am used to passing them every day. They are the Grouchy Tuxedo Cat and the brown tabby. I call the latter my Kitty or Feline Friend as he loves my company. I love being around him, too, especially when he crawls onto my lap.
But ever since autumn has begun, my Kitty Friend has disappeared. I don’t know where he’s gone and it appears no one else has seen him either. Previously, I used to find cans of tuna or plastic takeaway containers containing chicken left at his favourite spot near the stairs. The cans and containers would almost be empty so obviously the kitty had been feeding on them. But several weeks have passed and there has been no sign of the kitty or of food.
I hope he’s okay. He’s a smart cat in that unlike other cats, he doesn’t seem to be interested in sleeping under cars. And, unlike Riley, another cat I know, he doesn’t like hanging around the road. Still, I hope he hasn’t been run over.
A passer-by once told me the cat has a home. She said he lives about two blocks from the stairs. Maybe now that the weather is cooler he has decided to stay near his house. Or maybe his owner has decided to make him into an indoor cat. Wherever you are, my Kitty Friend, I hope you are safe and happy and that I will see you in spring.
