My Neighbour Breathes her Wine Breath into her Cats’ Faces

Looking back, I feel foolish when I think about the time I thought it would be funny to feed my ducks Coca Cola. Knowing what I do now know about cats and dogs (namely, chocolate can kill them), I could have poisoned my poor quackers.
But I’m not alone in doing silly things to my pets. My ex-neighbour doesn’t drink much but when she does she likes to breathe her wine breath into her cats’ faces. They’d look at her and turn their faces away. She found their reaction funny while I felt sorry for the poor buggers. Imagine being forced to inhale something you find offensive. Mind you, they never moved away from her.
Her cats would also go crazy if she had been patting dogs. She’d come home and the cats would rush up to paw her, getting really excited. She’d let them sniff her hands. Now I found this rather strange. Wouldn’t they be scared? It must depend on the cat. Sometimes I will see cats on the street and suddenly a dog will approach them. Some of them will hide. Others, like the clever Grouchy Tuxedo Cat who I see almost every day, will hide behind a gate where they can safely watch the dog without fear of being attacked. A third group will simply stand there and stare at the dog, as if challenging it to attack them. Last but not least is fearless Figaro, a slender black cat who will follow the dog from three feet behind. Why he does this is anyone’s guess.
