My New Friend
January 12th 2011 21:00
Speaking of friends (see previous post), hours after writing about them I came across this black cat who lives a few houses down from Swizzle, my ginger cat friend. Notice the surly expression on its face. Don’t you just love how cats get that imperious, nothing-impresses-me look on their faces?
As one reader once commented on my blog, “Cats think they’re so bloody superior”…

I'll tell the critter - "you're so great, get the food/ball/toy/water/whatever yourself!"
See, dogs know how it goes - it's a cooperative relationship. Not a master/slave one.

Cats aren't that bad. It depends on the cat. One way of looking at it is what my dog-hating friend says: "Dogs are stupid in that they follow people around. Cats know better."
And you can't hate them that much - else you wouldn't be reading this blog.

No, I don't hate cats. I don't really hate any animals.
Well, maybe except crickets because they wake me up.
But yeah, it's just differences, and I guess dogs just mesh better with me.
Of course, there's this one cat that's really, really curious about me. Only one in the neighborhood that wants me to pet him. The rest run away LOL

I like dogs, too. I tend to blog more about cats as I see more of them in my neighbourhood. Plus most of my friends have cats.
Good luck with your neighbourhood cat. Who knows? You might make a friend.
Hi Amy,
That's good to hear that you have such a clever cat. Cats are not known for always being co-operative, which is why I like them so much.

I'd definitely like a cat like that. I wouldn't mind one that explored everything and was super curious either - sounds like fun
@Queenie - yeah maybe so! I wouldn't mind that at all - a lot of times, he'll (or she, I have no idea) come running up with his tail standing straight up (friendly sign, I know) and then rub his head all up on the palm of my hand
