My Wife’s Back
February 16th 2012 21:00
After disappearing for several days, I finally spotted my wife in the moonlight. Doesn’t she look lovely? To my surprise, she came up to me, wanting me to rub her neck. I was hesitant; after all, the last time I tried to engage in any physical contact with her, she bared her teeth and hissed at me, making it clear who was the boss.
“She’s a user,” said Fred after I told him what had happened. “I used to know a cat like that. It would let you stroke it but after a while it would get sick of it and make it clear that it no longer wanted to be touched. It has to be on their terms.” Not like Butterscotch and Gingersnap, or Grey One for that matter. What I liked about those cats were their consistency - they were always pleased to see me. I could touch them as often as I liked and be rewarded with purrs and head butts and stinky cat breath. I wonder what the GTC’s breath smells like. I’ve never been close enough to be able to sniff it.
