My favourite boys must have relatives all over the place as it turns out my removalist once had a Tonkinese cat. He told me how he loved water.
“He used to sit and watch me shave,” said my removalist. I wonder if Butterscotch and Gingersnap ever did that with Brett. I must ask him.
Surprisingly, the Tonk had no companion. “He was a very friendly cat. Just like a dog. But he never got into mischief. The only thing was he was a real hunter. Every day he would come back with a bird or a lizard.” I felt sorry for the wildlife. I also was amazed at how the Tonk – supposed to be one of the most social breeds of cats – could have been all alone and not gone bonkers from the lack of social stimulation. Every Tonk needs another feline. Just look at how mental Gingersnap went when Butterscotch went missing for a week. Gingersnap spent his evenings sleeping on Brett’s head, driving him nuts as he felt literally smothered by all the attention.
