‘No People Allowed’ Sign

It’s another great day at the office…
I used to keep this at my desk at one of my jobs. This particular job had changed from a hermit one (which I loved as I don’t like dealing with people) to a people-oriented job. I was unhappy with the changes and hence the sign. The dog is my alter ego.
When I showed this to a colleague she said, “Queenie’s gone crazy”. She got it in one go. I was going crazy from the constant phone calls and people who would just pop up at my desk and fire questions at me without checking with me first to ensure it was a good time. To make matters worse, I had a supervisor who assumed that if someone from another department made a complaint about me, I must have been in the wrong, regardless of how trivial or unreasonable the complaint was. So I had to deal with a woman who would complain if I didn’t answer her emails within five minutes of receiving them. I would get into trouble even though I pointed out to my supervisor that expecting someone to answer a non-urgent email within five minutes every time was ridiculous. In the end I would turn the tables on the complainant and try to get her into trouble with her boss. Looking back, I am so glad that I am no longer at that particular job.
These days, I still have an aversion to people but I am now in another hermit job where I seldom have to deal with people. Life is good.
