Oh no! Butterscotch and Gingersnap Aren’t Brothers
September 16th 2009 21:03
I am devastated. I had always been under the impression that my favourite boys were brothers. After all, Brett had adopted them together from the Cat Protection Society. The CPS told him the two could not be separated as they were very close. They were the same age and the same breed and Brett had said nothing that indicated otherwise.
Cat sitting for Brett one morning, I decided to have a look at their adoption papers and discovered there was a two month age gap between them. Does that mean they aren’t brothers? On the other hand, feline gestation period is normally around eight weeks so it is possible that Butterscotch’s mum had gotten pregnant immediately after giving birth to him. But then, would she have mated with the same stud?
I’m going to have to ask Brett this. I want to know for sure.
