Old Soul

September 1st 2011 21:00

My home decorating loving sister recently bought me this wooden cat figure from her local St Vinnie’s. Not knowing what to call it, in the end I named it Old Soul. It sits on the ledge underneath my windows.

What’s tragic about this is that my sister behaves more like a homeowner than I do, even though she’s still renting. Unlike me, she tends to find places where the owner is in no hurry to sell. Lucky her. So now that she’s done decorating her unit, she has now turned her attention to me, even though my ex-landlady had already transformed my unit into something more modern. This has led to many fights, especially when we have different tastes. Like the time she suggested I buy a $99 spindly bookcase that, at most, would hold about forty books. This was at the same time I was spending time at Borders deciding which bookcase to buy. I ended up buying one for $200 which holds six hundred books. You do the sums. In the end I had to tell her to back off and that my idea of a perfect bookcase was a Borders one which I ended up getting thanks to their furniture and fixtures sale.
