One Cute Dog

December 18th 2008 21:00

Spotted: one cute dog lying outside one Potts Point café. I had to take a photo of it. I wish I could have one of my own.

Work has been full-on at the moment. The colleague who sits besides me is also a big animal lover and she thinks Butterscotch is gorgeous. Often I will hear her moaning, “I wish I was Butterscotch” while she’s working away. Don’t we all? To have nothing to worry about except being fed…But then you could get a bad owner like my ex-colleague’s neighbour’s cat.

My ex-colleague has tried to sort this out with his neighbour but she continues to neglect her cat by not feeding it and leaving it hanging around the hallway until she comes home, which is late at night. One night my ex-colleague didn’t come home until midnight only to find the poor cat in the hallway. He and his girlfriend felt sorry for it and decided to let it stay the night in their flat. They have also contacted their real estate agent to let them know about the neglected cat. Unfortunately, so far, nothing has been done.

Why have an animal if you’re going to treat it like that? Sadly, the neglectful cat owner is not the only bad pet owner out there. I remember a woman who used to walk her dog around my neighbourhood. The dog had a wonky leg but never did anything about it. I’d hate to think how much it was suffering.

Its tricky with animals you see walking down the street. Maybe it was just an old dog with arthritis, and they had done what they could. I try so hard not to judge because sometimes if people saw things I do Id be accused of animal cruelty!

This one who lets the cat roam the hallways - why doesnt she keep it inside? Maybe shes one of those nuts who thinks a cat 'needs' to roam, but a domestic cat doesnt. It makes utterly no sense to me.

When we moved in the people next door had a really thin horse, and I wanted to rip them up over it, but I didnt judge because I used to have a horse who was really thin and I thought maybe they were trying really hard, and she was just like that. In the end it was her horse that gave mine the equine flu - she was just a moron. But what can ya do?

Exactly. I know someone who will tell someone off if they see them with an animal that looks sick but I like to mind my own business.

In the case of the woman with the dog, she was a friend of a friend which is how I knew about the situation.
