One Maudlin Book

It’s amazing the treasures you can uncover when you’re out shopping. I came across this book with the rather maudlin title of Grandma’s Dead: Breaking Bad News with Baby Animals. Just as the title suggests, pictures of innocent-looking baby animals are juxtaposed with grim messages such as “You don’t matter” and “It’s syphilis”. The messages are printed on postcards – a perfect way for the coward to break the news to the poor recipient. Check it out at the link below:

Speaking of funny books, I Can Has Cheezburger? is perfect for cat lovers. There are about two hundred pictures of cats in funny positions with captions in broken English. Strangely enough, the broken English adds character to the book and it’s not hard to imagine a cat talking in the same way. When I saw this book I had to snap it up.

If only I could get Butterscotch or Gingersnap to adopt some silly poses. I could send the photos off to the creator of Stuff On My Cat and have them published. But my two favourite boys aren’t interested. Butterscotch likes to stare at the camera with an imperious look on his face while Gingersnap now hides as soon as he sees a camera. I don’t think I could even try putting stuff on them to see if they would happily pose for a funny picture. Butterscotch, being the feistier of the two, would probably push whatever it is I’ve just placed on his fur and run off. Gingersnap wouldn’t run; he’d just turn his face away.
