One of Brett’s Boys is Sick

Like any concerned companion animal owner, my friend Brett decided after two years of living on Science Diet and Purina dry cat food, plus the occasional slice of chicken or ham, it was time to vary his babies’ diet. He decided to feed them wet cat food on top of the dry food. The trouble was that one of them threw up on the floor. As Brett was not watching them when this happened, he doesn’t know which one it was, or whether it was both of them.
Despite this, Brett suspects it was Butterscotch. The reason being was he noticed Butterscotch emitting strange groans just before he found the vomit on the floor.
“Gingersnap doesn’t talk to me,” he said.
It’s times like this I wish Brett would do himself a favour and read a cat manual. Most of my cat books advise against sudden changes in diet as it can upset a cat’s stomach.
Luckily for my boys, Brett has now gone back to feeding them dry food.
Speaking of vomiting cats, I remember visiting my ex-neighbour one day. I was playing with one of her cats when he started strangely undulating his body like a caterpillar. I was wondering what was going on when my neighbour gasped and said “Oh no!” before she raced off. She returned with some newspaper and placed it in front of him just before he opened his mouth and ejected lots of fluid onto the paper. My neighbour was upset and worried but in the end, it turned out to be a one off incident so she didn’t have to take him to the vet.
