Panda Bites Man Wanting to Cuddle it
November 24th 2008 00:24
How often have you been tempted to cuddle or pet an animal at the zoo? Most people would probably answer yes to this question but have enough common sense not to reach out and try and touch it – especially if there are warning signs in front of the enclosure.
In China last Friday, a man called Liu decided to ignore the warning signs and was bitten by a panda after he climbed into its enclosure at Qixing Park with the intention of cuddling it.
I feel sorry for the poor guy. On the other hand, don’t say the enclosure didn’t warn him.

On the other hand, this story almost had me laughing. What perfect revenge!

It reminded me of a university lecturer I once had who said that dog bites man isn’t as newsworthy as man bites dog. It also reminded me of my school friend’s advice which was to bite back if I got bitten by an animal.
Now I know what my friend Olwen means when she said pandas are to be treated like any other bear after she had a face-to-face encounter with one at a panda exhibit in China. The bear wasn’t exactly friendly towards her.
