Relive the Borders Experience at Queenie’s House
August 29th 2011 21:04
When Queenie purchased her first property, a one bedroom unit in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, she decided to replicate a Borders store as her way of home decorating.
The move must have been serendipitous, as Borders was closing down. Saddened by the loss of her favourite store, Queenie purchased one of their double sided bookcases and bought as much Borders paraphernalia as she could. They came in the form of the subject headings that are attached to the shelves and the signs that are on top and the side of the bookcase. She then used it to house her collection of six hundred books, most of which were purchased from Borders and still had the price stickers on them. For the finishing touches, she added a Borders enviro bag and decorated the bookcase with various Borders flyers and coupons she had collected over the years. She also included copies of their gift card policy changes.
Friends who have seen the bookcase say they feel transported back in time and it relives their Borders shopping experiences. In fact, one friend said all she needs to do is to hire a Borders employee just to complete the experience.
