R.I.P. Princess: Camrose Cat Killing (part 2)
September 11th 2008 21:00
Have you ever read about something so terrible you can’t get it out of your head? That’s how I’ve spent today and yesterday. I couldn’t get the Camrose cat killing out of my head. It doesn’t help that I have a microwave at home. Each time I used it, all I could think of was poor Princess howling her head off, paws glued to the door as she’s trying desperately to escape. What a torturous way to go.
Having lunch with my sister yesterday, that was all I could talk about. I said to her, “What’s next? Microwaving babies?” My sister then mentioned hearing about a baby who died the same way as Princess.
“What kind of people would do something like that?” I asked her before going back to Princess.
“Well those kids are obviously screwed up. Most kids wouldn’t think of doing something like that to an animal,” was my sister’s reply.
Walking to work today, my mind was still on Princess. When I look at pictures of Butterscotch all I can think about was how much I love him and would never harm him, even though he now likes to bite me (he thinks it’s a game) and I hope that he will never suffer the same fate as Princess.
Watching a video of people protesting against Canada’s light animal cruelty laws brought tears to my eyes. One protester had a sign with a picture of a cat and the words, “Why did you kill me [sic]”. That’s exactly what I want to know.
