Thank God I Don’t Have a Cat

It’s the moment every pet owner who is a tenant dreads: being told your landlord/lady is going to sell the property. What do you do? Where do you put Fido? You don’t know whether to stay put in case the property gets sold to another investor or to start looking for another place to live. And there are not many pet friendly places out there.
It’s just not fair. For two years I’ve been living in the same unit. I pay my rent on time and look after the place and now I’ve been told my landlord is going to put the property on the market.
Several months ago I was contemplating getting a cat and I would have if it hadn’t for the fact the landlord denied my request for a moggie. Now I am glad he knocked me back because not only would I be looking for a place for myself but I would have to worry about finding a home for my cat.
I am in enough limbo as it is while I think about what to do. Should I buy or should I just stay put and hope my place gets sold to an investor? It really sucks not knowing what lies ahead.
But not every renter is as unlucky as me. One of my friends who has a dog was lucky enough to find dog-friendly rental accommodation. She then decided to move. Luckily for her, she owned her own place so it was a matter of moving back into her old unit. The trouble was, there was not enough room for her dog so she had to leave the dog with her parents so he would have room to exercise. It was sad she couldn’t take her dog with her but her two bedroom apartment was way too small for a large dog to live in.
