The Birdcages are back!

Strolling around the city one day, I took a detour towards Angel Place and spotted these birdcages, complete with recordings of bird songs. This artwork was part of the Art & About festival.
The bird calls reminded me of my beloved birds of paradise. As a child I remember reading about Bill Oddie of the Goodies’ love of bird watching. At the time, I thought must have had a boring life if he couldn’t think of other things to do. As an adult, caught up in the life of working to pay off my mortgage, I find bird watching (and listening) relaxing and soothing. It’s also a gentle reminder that no matter how bad life gets, life still goes on.
