The Frog: Fred’s Alter Ego

My friend Fred loves frogs which is why he calls himself the Frog. I’ve lengthened that to Froggo, which is what I like to call him. It’s funny as he hates his name but for a frog lover, having the same name as Freddo Frog chocolates is so apt!
Fred likes frogs as he thinks they are cute. Fred happens to like a lot of things that are green. He likes green caterpillars, U.S. Marine Corps uniforms and is the only person I know – apart from myself – who can sacrifice any flavour of their lollies except for the lime ones. I found this out one day when I was walking to the park with him and I had a bag of jellies with me. I offered him the bag, saying, “You can have any colour except for the green ones.” “But they were the ones I wanted,” he said. It turned out lime was also his favourite flavour. He also likes Freddo Frog chocolates. Whenever I ate some Freddo Frogs, I would give him the empty wrappers.
Fred, like my neighbour, lives in a studio. It is sparsely furnished but he has lots of green plastic frogs sitting on his TV set. He also keeps some military figurines dressed in U.S. Marine Corps outfits next to his bed.
