The Ginger cat

I am still lonely. Thinking about Butler (see previous post) reminds me of a ginger cat I once saw in the same area. Across the street from where I spotted Butler is a row of shops. Not the sort of place you’d expect to find a cat. So you can imagine how surprised I was a couple of months ago when I was browsing in one of the stores and stumbled across a ginger cat in one of the change rooms. I tried to make friends. It wasn’t interested. It just sat there staring at me. I then left.
I returned to the store several times but I never saw the cat again. I asked one of the sales assistants about it and she told me it was a neighbourhood cat who liked to come into the store from time to time.
“Did he frighten you?” she asked me.
“Oh, no. I was just wondering who it belonged to,” I said, secretly wishing I would run into it again. Several visits later, I still haven’t seen it. My consolation prize is meeting Butler.
